Wait a minute, you didn’t think I was actually going to offer you some great ‘pick-up’ lines and tips for dating Christians did you? Can you imagine it (Jesus to his disciples); “Now listen guys, all you need to do is make her laugh and you’re sorted! Just tell her the one about…”
What is a pick-up line anyway? I mean surely any man or woman daft enough to be picked up by a ‘line’ has got to be a sandwich short of a picnic haven’t they?.. and yet such articles appear all over the internet and many appear on ‘highly regarded’ dating sites like match and E-Harmony on great pick-up lines! Hmm I’m not sure about the whole thing myself.
Pick-Up Lines are For Losers!
Come on people, we don’t want to seriously be trying to impress the girls (or boys) with our one-liners, and likewise – girls, we know that you like funny guys but please don’t make this the number one think you look for. After all The Bible is VERY clear that character, honesty, integrity, long-suffering, patience, hard work, a love of God and His attributes and creation over more superficial things like homour, the love of money and other worldly pusuits, are all far more important than being able to pull off a great gag or cause your date to convulse on the floor !
Christians Don’t Need Pick Up Lines!
Christians need confidence in their Lord and saviour, a strong faith (we suggest you work this past out BEFORE you start seriously dating – and by ‘dating’ we mean; looking for a wife not someone to sleep with! Christians also need balanced outlook on life and a good working knowledge of The Bible and biblical principles. If you don’t have those basic things sorted, I’m afraid a good pick up line may catch you a fish with your incredible humor but it will be pretty useless in the medium to long term – and may even land you in trouble or a relationship you don’t want.
Now if You Really Want to be Interesting on your Date…
But on a lighter note, humor IS a great way to get to know someone and have fun and keep a relationship healthy, alive and fun so if you do want some great ideas on ways to make a date or meeting more fun or engaging, or to keep your existing relationship a communicative one and in good condition, know your Bible, keep abreast of world news, know something about politics (with all its faults), know something about money, economics and finance (yes we must even be well versed on the devil’s favorite pass-times – notice the small ‘d’ for Devil!), know who in Christianity is for real and who is a charlatan (yes there are many false teachers and prophets in the world and probably in your neighborhood, and Jesus promised this), learn a few funny stories or interesting anecdotes. But don’t worry if you are not a stand-up comedian or a clown – much better to be a faithful man or woman of God!
